This recipe for raisin bran muffins was adapted from Smart Muffins, a little tome I picked up at Half Price Books in Austin last week. The book reflects the silliness of its era–it was published in 1987–in that the “smart” recipes are largely low in sugar. Everything is whole wheat and full of nutrients, so I was hopeful. Upon sampling a muffin, I have to conclude that more sugar would have been good (and that the 80’s were a strange time). Ashley will eat them, though, and tell me I’m awesome anyway.
